Casa Palxem
Area 5000 SqMt.
Status: Completed 2022
Casa Palxem is a late 19th Century house in the Portuguese style situated in Goa. The renovation aimed to transform it into a contemporary residence while preserving its majestic Portuguese Goan Villa features. The historic elements are accentuated by beautiful uplighting in doorways and arches, showcasing the exposed roof with uplit wooden trusses aged to a dark patina. Glass-paneled wardrobes with internal lighting elegantly section off spaces while adding a touch of lightness. Distressed finishes on the original pivoted doors reveal a color palette accumulated over a century, blending history with modernity. Concealed lighting and repurposed Portuguese lamp holders create a stunning chandelier in the living room. Artisans skilled in crafting tortoise shell window panes were sought to replace some, maintaining the mansion's authenticity. Bold stripes in the dining area harmonize diverse elements, while colors enliven the bedroom and home office. Overall, the renovation adds a breath of new life into this historic gem while retaining its heritage .
