Bocheletsane Primary School
Area 1590 SqMt.
Status: Completed 2017
Situated in Mantsonyane within the Lesotho Highlands, the Primary School caters to 600 children aged between five and ten years old. The design focuses on ensuring the school is welcoming and non-intimidating for youngsters embarking on their first solo journey away from home. Rather than a single imposing structure, the school comprises five minor blocks, each housing three classrooms, strung along a central stairway descending along the inclined terrain. This layout permits each block to have its own enclosed play area while the staircase serves as a gathering space and an open-air amphitheater. Featuring skylights oriented northwards, the classrooms boast abundant natural light and sunshine. Additionally, small eye-level windows offer engaging external views. The interplay of varied elevations conjures up enchanting vistas that spark the young imagination. With a mere glance out the window, a child might envision a figure strolling through the sky, enhancing the school's magical allure.
